What if Childhood Gender Roles Continued to Adulthood?
It used to be that all little kids, regardless of gender, were dressed the same way when they were very small, but we tend to do things in the reverse order these days. It would be ridiculous if a girl of sixteen couldn’t find a blue shirt in the ladies section of the store, or if a guy couldn’t wear a purple polo without somebody commenting. Of course, the truth is, a lot of these ideas about gender do survive to adulthood. Ask any lady in a job where lifting stuff is a frequent activity, or any male nurse or nanny, and woman who cuts her hair shorter than her chin or any guy who paints his nails.
