Chris Pine Reportedly Closes Deal for Role in Wonder Woman Standalone Movie

Recommended Videos

Patty Jenkins’ Gal Gadot-starring Wonder Woman movie is still in the early stages, but it’s now being reported that Chris Pine has landed his previously rumored role as Gadot’s love interest in the film, despite Green Lantern rumors.

The Wrap says Pine’s talks with Warner Bros. have come to a close with him officially in the role of Steve Trevor, Diana Prince’s long-time romantic partner from the comics—so at least there won’t be any Superman/Wonder Woman love story shoved into Batman v Superman. The Wrap also mentioned that while plot details were still scarce, and WB declined comment, Pine would be “no mere love interest,” and there will be “plenty of action” for him.

Yes, because our primary concern here was that a man would be relegated to just a love interest. I mean, what a horrible fate, right? That’d be an awful thing to do to any relatively well known actor or character, surely. Good thing we dodged that bullet. I hope we never see such a thing come to pass.
