Looking for this summer’s slow jam feminist banger? Well, Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato just delivered it in their new track “Fall in Line.” The duo premiered the song at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, and just dropped the music video today. “Fall in Line” starts with two little girls (young Aguilera and Lovato) playing in a bucolic field before masked men capture them and take them to an underground prison.

Once inside, we see adult Aguilera and Lovato chained up in cells, trotted out by armed guards to sing in front of a wall of cameras. As the video continues, Christina strangles a guard with her own shackles, before finding and freeing Demi. The two climb a ladder to the surface and are reunited in the same field, entwined in a hug. The video, directed by Luke Gilford (who also directed Troye Sivan’s “Heaven” video), features beautifully shot imagery that pairs with the angry lyrics of the song.

It’s just the way it is
And maybe it’s never gonna change
But I got a mind to show my strength
And I got a right to speak my mind
And I’m gonna pay for this
They’re gonna burn me at the stake
But I got a fire in my veins
I wasn’t made to fall in line
No, I wasn’t made to fall in line, no

The song was released in anticipation of Aguilera’s upcoming sixth album, Liberation, her first in six years. The album drops June 15th, and features collaborations with Ty Dolla $ign and 2 Chainz, in addition to Lovato. Aguilera will go on tour (her first tour in over a decade) for the album with special guest Big Boi. Are you as excited as Tyra Banks is for the return of Xtina? Because I most definitely am.
