Community Writer Doesn’t Seem Too Optimistic About the Show Getting a Sixth Season

As avid watchers of the Community, we’re desperately hoping that the show will get picked up for a sixth season. But, as always, NBC is dragging its feet with that renewal, and the situation’s looking pretty grim. Heck, even writer and executive producer Chris McKenna is feeling pretty pessimistic if these tweets are any indication.

After realizing that maaaaybe a bitter tweet to a diehard fan might not be the best way to let that person know about their favorite show’s untimely demise, McKenna amended his response.

So obviously not the most diplomatic way to go about things, but understandable given McKenna’s position. After all, they’ve been fighting this fight tooth and claw against NBC literally every year since the show’s premiere. Even if McKenna isn’t tweeting with any insider knowledge in mind about Community’s eventual fate, that kind of uphill battle has got to get demoralizing, especially in the face of such optimistic, passionate enthusiasm from fans on Twitter.

One thing’s for certain, Community community: start making peace with your reformed Neo Buddha god just in case. You know, just like you do at the end of every season. Sooner or later, we’ll all get the full story. Either that or we’ll be transformed into a shimmering ocean of knowledge that tastes like Hawaiian Punch, but then we probably won’t even need television, so it’ll be fine.
