New Flight of the Conchords Special to Air This Year
Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie recently embarked on a tour in North America, which they plan to continue in the U.K. and Ireland this year. Now, it’s just been announced that the duo plans to film a Flight of the Conchords HBO special as well.
The possibility of a Flight of the Conchords movie has been in the works, dismissed, and back in the works a few times over the years—this might be what fans have been waiting for. Clement, during the Television Critics Association press tour, said on Friday, “We’ve done some of [the material] before, some of it will be new. Some of it we’ll be working on in the next few months… We’ve grown up. We’re not the characters from the TV show, in real life we’re dads now and listen to different kinds of music. The trickiest thing about touring again is getting used to your instrument again. Usually, I take my guitar in the van on the way to work to get used to it.”
The deal with HBO is currently still being finalized, so there’s not news yet about when the hour-long special will air besides “sometime in 2018.” Are you looking forward to more Flight of the Conchords?
