Halo fans, get ready to have a very Her relationship with your Microsoft devices. In not entirely surprising (but awesome) news, considering Microsoft has been calling their upcoming voice command rollout “Cortana” for months, it seems that Halo voice actress Jen Taylor will voice the feature named after her character.

Simply calling it Cortana doesn’t really do much for them, but if they’re really using her actual voice as MSFTNerd is reporting, Microsoft’s answer to Siri suddenly just got real. It’s easy to poke fun at them for shamelessly clinging to Halo‘s success, but keep in mind that it’s also probably the greatest use of  intellectual property rights ever.

Just imagine how much more fun Siri would be to talk to if she was replaced with an AI companion you’d already grown to love. Oh, right, you won’t have to, because Microsoft is making that a reality.

Now we just need Google to get Valve to hook them up with GLaDOS as their voice command feature, and then the three of them can battle it out. Or just the two of them while Siri hides in a corner and weeps.
