Travel to the Past in the Near Future on a Cruise That Takes You to the 1980s
Or go by DeLorean if you can hitch a ride back with Marty McFly next year.
Forget DeLoreans and stupid flying trains—yeah, I said it—this cruise ship is the only time machine you need. For a week beginning on February 28, Holland America’s floating time capsule will take you from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to fantastic destinations like Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and the Bahamas—oh, not to mention the 1980s.
You might not even have to pay! The site has an entry form to win a free cabin aboard the cruise, which is described as the “Ultimate 80s Experience”:
The 80s Cruise features some of the biggest music acts and Artists of the decade. Each night we will feature one of our headline entertainers in our Main Stage Theatre with guaranteed seating for all. Also, every night you will be treated to delicious dining in one of the many restaurants onboard. So what happens afterwards? That’s easy, we open up the cruise in a festival style atmosphere where various venues and lounges will feature more music acts and Artists, themed parties and dancing, gameshows & fun with our celebrities onboard plus a lot more until the early hours of the morning. During the days when we’re not enjoying the lush and tropical ports of call, we have a ton of events from 80s themed pool parties, Q&A Events & Music Seminars with the Original MTV VJs, Karaoke, Trivia Sessions, Video-Game Competitions and a heap more all week long!
Some of those “tons of events” include sadly Danger Zone-less Top Gun karaoke, an old-school board game challenge, and an 80s movie costume party. Hey, between two Star Wars movies, Indiana Jones, and Ghostbusters, you’ve got plenty of cosplay options. To be honest, I’ve been to the real 80s, and this cruise sounds like way more fun. They’ve also got a ton of classic music including an actual Huey Lewis and the News show.
When this baby hits 88 miles per hour—or whatever speed cruise ships go, I guess—you’re going to see some serious shit.
