Dan Aykroyd May Have Just Given Us Concrete Ghostbusters 3 Plot Information

Cautiously Optimistic

We’ve been wary about posting Ghostbusters 3 stories. First of all, it feels like there’s a new one every other week (if it’s any indication, our last post on the subject was titled “Part 73948 of the Ghostbusters 3 Saga“). And secondly, it never feels like it’s really going to happen. But Dan Akyroyd spoke recently about what the story would entail and it seems like a solid idea.

Aykroyd did an interview with Larry King Now in which he discussed the ever-impending film which I’m still not convinced is happening.

“We’re going to have to cast. We need four new ghostbusters. We need four new Columbia students,” he said. “It’s based upon new research that’s being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University. Basically there’s research being done that…I can say that the world or our dimension that we live in, our four planes of existence, length, height, width, and time, become threatened by some of the research that is being done. And Ghostbusters, new Ghostbusters have to come and some the problem.”

And what about Bill Murray who was in, then out, then in, then out again?

“He’s a good friend, I love him, but he just doesn’t want to reprise the role. However, there will be a hole for him. If Billy wants to walk in the door and be in the movie, we will find a place.”

How does that story sound to you? And do you think it’s preferable to have four new Ghostbusters?
