Deadpool Movie Still On: Will Be an R-Rated Comedy

i'll just leave this here

Hopes still run high for a faithful movie adaptation for Marvel Comics’ Deadpool, who made his first canonical appearance in a Marvel movie in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Most Deadpool fans consider Ryan Reynold’s portrayal of him to be Deadpool-in-name-only, lacking the character’s signature 4th-wall-breaking self-awareness and comedic flair.

But, despite difficulties like Ryan Reynolds now being occupied portraying DC Comic’s flagship character Hal Jordan, Green Lantern of Earth; and an inability to find a director; producer Lauren Shuler-Donner wants us all to know that it is still on.

The script, penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick is done, at least, and

It’s a total reboot… We’re either going to pretend that [X-Men Origins: Wolverine] didn’t happen – or mock it, which [Deadpool] could. It’s insane, it’s definitely comedy… But it’s an R script, it’s really irreverent and violent. Right away, we’re out of the X-Men world.

Deadpool has already made reference to his portrayal in movies in comics, so this would be totally in keeping with the character. “Irreverent” and “violent” are also excellent words to describe the Merc with a Mouth, so basically this all sounds good. Provided it actually gets made, of course.

She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
