Ralph Breaks the Internet Is Giving the Disney Princesses New Casual Looks and We Are Ready for It!
Damn it Disney, I want to rebuke you for all your bullshit decisions, the problematic men you continue to hire and protect, and caving in to trollish monsters, but at the same time, they have the cupid’s chokehold over my childhood. This latest news about <em>Breakin’ 2: Wreck-It Ralph Electric Boogaloo Ralph Breaks the Internet got me more excited than I really want to be about the film.

In an exclusiveve image released from Entertainment Weekly we see Vanellope lounging with the women of the Disney Princess canon in casual wear, gowns gone and they are instead in comfy outfits.
Some highlights:
- Tiana’s beautiful curls. Omg those curls, I’m crying. Will Tiana get more screentime as a human in this movie than in P&TF? We shall see.
- Snow is wearing a shirt with a posion apple on it because she’s out of fucks to give and I’m living for it.
- Cindy’s shirt is a carriage with G2G on it!
- Anna’s shirt has a picture of a sandwich and it says “finish each others”
- Mulan’s jacket has Mushu dragons on it.
- Ariel looks pretty forlorn about something on the couch why is she isolated and not hanging out with the group?
- Where are Belle, Aurora, and Merida?
- Loungewear we don’t get a look yet, but are teased in the interview that they say “Beast Friends Forever,” and “Blue Corn Moon”
Everything about this promo excites me, and I can’t help but wonder how meta they will be about this whole “princess” thing. Will other Disney female characters who are not princesses come up? Will they make an “all girls are princesses” declaration and finally give Eilonwy from The Black Cauldron her due? We shall see.
In addition to this big dick energy picture, there is also the EW interview explaining how Vanellope’s inclusion into the Disney canon inspired these outfit changes:
“I’m very proud of my character being a Disney princess with a human waist. I love that she is a princess but wears, like, a hoodie, and she inspires them all to wear comfortable clothes,” says Sarah Silverman, reprising her 2012 voice role as Vanellope von Schweetz, who in the final moments of Wreck-It Ralph learned she wasn’t a glitch but, in fact, the de-programmed monarch of the racing game, Sugar Rush. “It didn’t really cross my mind that I’m a Disney princess — like, that I’m canon— until we all met this year, and I got a little choked up. It’s corny, I know, but I was like, ‘Oh s—t, right. I’m this Jewish, comfortable-clothes-wearing Disney princess. How cool is that?”
It’s pretty cool and it seems like the point of including these iconic women of Disney is to “humanize” them beyond the glossy perfection they were originally created to represent.
“To be able to work with these characters in a way that’s funny and human … they’re so iconic, but to me, they felt like they were frozen in another time that made it hard for me to kind of identify with or understand them,” says Rich Moore, who co-directed the Oscar-winning Zootopia. “That’s just me personally, [but] I think what’s fun about that scene is that this is really adding a facet to them that makes them feel like real people.”
We will see how real they get.
What do you think of these loungewear looks and how soon before Hot Topic starts to sell them?
