Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams Star in Disobedience, a Forbidden Love Story
Sebastián Lelio, the Chilean director of the Oscar nominated film A Fantastic Woman and Gloria, has arrived with another compelling love story, this time between two women in an Orthodox Jewish community. Disobedience first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year to positive reviews, and now the first trailer has arrived.
Starring Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams, Disobedience has been praised as a film that thoughtfully and powerfully explores religion, sexuality, spirituality, and love. The synopsis from Bleecker Street reads:
“From a screenplay by Sebastián Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, and based on Naomi Alderman’s book, the film follows a woman (Rachel Weisz) as she returns to the community that shunned her decades earlier for an attraction to a childhood friend (Rachel McAdams). Once back, their passions reignite as they explore the boundaries of faith and sexuality.”
Disobedience comes to theaters April 27. Are you going to check it out?
