Doctor Strange Brings a Warning in New Thor: Ragnarok Trailer

Recommended Videos

We’re only two Marvel movies away from Avengers: Infinity War (Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther), and things are appropriately increasing in scale and ominousness. This latest Thor: Ragnarok trailer not only includes some additional action compared to the previous ones, but it also brings in yet another major player in Marvel’s cinematic universe: Doctor Strange.

Strange shows up at the beginning to give Thor a vague warning (at least in the trailer) about his destiny, and it’s hard not to read it as having more to do with events that will follow Ragnarok than the task immediately at hand. We already know from the footage shown at Comic-Con that Loki is free in Infinity War and has somehow gained possession of the tesseract, and the groundwork for that will seemingly be laid in Ragnarok.

Likewise, Thor is on the losing end of some kind of conflict in deep space when the Guardians of the Galaxy pick him up in that same Infinity War footage, which could neatly fit together with the events of Ragnarok. With Black Panther seeming like it’ll be more focused directly on that character, Ragnarok‘s outer space romp is shaping up to be the most direct setup Infinity War‘s galactic-scale clash is going to get.
