Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Screening Locations are Now Available for the US and UK

Way back when it was announced that Doctor Who‘s 50th Anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor,” would run in 3D where available, lost of folks were understandably confused as to how this would work. Then the theater screenings were announced, and whole different kind of excitement began. Screenings for UK fans of the show were announced first, as is right, but can you blame us for waiting until the American screenings were announced to talk about it?

Yes, the American screening locations have been announced.

The screenings can be divided into two sorts: the ones that will air simultaneously with the television broadcast of the show on the 23rd, and the ones that don’t. I say that because there are a lot fewer of the simulcast screenings, so they’re likely to be quite difficult to get a ticket to, as opposed to the more numerous later screenings of the episode, which are likely to be merely difficult to get a ticket to. The more than two hundred UK locations of the screenings can be found here, including both simulcast screenings and others.

The US, and I hope you don’t mind us saying this, England, et al., is quite a bit bigger than the UK, and in turn we have quite a lot more theaters. Overall, more than three hundred theaters will be running an episode of Doctor Who next month, which is already pretty impressive regardless of it being the 50th Anniversary. Only eleven of those locations, however, in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Houston, Atlanta, Seattle, and Minneapolis, will be running the show simultaneously with its television broadcast on November 23rd.. The rest will run the anniversary special on Monday, November 25th.

So if you’re in the US and want to get into a screening you might want to take a good look at this Fathom Events page. Tickets will go on sale at 9am tomorrow morning (October 25th). That’s 9am in whatever time zone the theater is in. So get your clicking fingers ready, and your Adipose stress ball for when thousands of eager Whovians overwhelm the site.
