So Donald Trump Can Just Use Game of Thrones Memes Now?
It brings me no joy going to Donald Trump’s Twitter and seeing that he’s making Game of Thrones references, but it also isn’t a new thing. For some unknown reason, Trump loves to play off of the show, like everyone else who’s ever been out of touch and tried to make a pop culture reference they didn’t understand to impress the youths.
What’s interesting, though, is that he continues to use Game of Thrones references, and HBO seemingly can’t do anything about it but just … let him do it? During the Mueller Report release yesterday, Trump tweeted this picture stating “Game Over” in the show’s font.

Now, if only it were the only time. Trump also used the font back in November to mock us all, as well.

The thing is, HBO did respond, and all they can seemingly do is just … ask that he doesn’t do so?
HBO responds to Trump’s GoT-themed tweet: “Though we can understand the enthusiasm for Game of Thrones now that the final season has arrived, we still prefer our intellectual property not be used for political purposes.” https://t.co/KOZ17dXhkz

There’s not much that HBO can do about Trump using bad GoT memes, folks. Take solace in the fact that the White House still doesn’t understand what Game of Thrones is, and keep it pushing.

Maybe I’m just mad because it’s clear that he’s trying to be funny—or his team is because, let’s be real, he has no idea how to edit an image on a computer—without having any context to the show. I’m team “If you don’t watch something, don’t make jokes about it. Especially if your name is Donald Trump.” If he did watch Game of Thrones, he’d definitely have to realize that he’s our real-life Joffrey. Right?
