Things We Saw Today: The New Dune Movie Finds Its Baron Harkonnen
Giedi Prime v Caladan begins again.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stellan Skarsgård will take on the role of Baron Harkonnen, the main antagonist of the novel Dune. The gross and disgusting child abuser and killer who also floats. It’s a role that requires a strong actor to sell some of the more dramatic elements of the character, and papa Skarsgård is up for the task. (He can also bring Gustav, Alexander, and Bill Skarsgård with him.)
Among the cast that is confirmed are Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, and Dave Bautista. Chalamaet will be called by the name of Paul Atreides, the young noble and promised Messiah several times over, Ferguson will be playing Lady Jessica, a powerful leader in her own right and Paul’s mother, and Bautista will be the sadistic nephew of the Baron, Glossu Rabban Harkonnen, also know as “The Beast.”
As a huge fan of the Dune novels, I’m looking forward to seeing what Villeneuve does with this adaptation.
