According to Marvel Entertainment just now, “Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on Ant-Man due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.” Well, this was unexpected.

Variety says Marvel already has another director lined up but hasn’t said who.

What a blow for fans of Wright’s work who were looking forward to seeing his vision of a Marvel Comics hero. The film stars Paul Rudd in the lead role along with Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Corey Stoll and Patrick Wilson. Wright has been working on the project since 2006.
