Elf Recut as a Thriller is the Stuff of Nightmares
Proceed with caution.
What if Elf wasn’t the lovable comedy we all insist on watching during the holidays? What if it really is a thriller at heart? The creative team behind Mashable’s CineFix set out to answer those questions by recutting the trailer into something more sinister. Let’s just say evil Buddy makes sense when you take his ridiculously childlike nature out of context. Also, it’s the stuff nightmares are made of.
The original story centers on a regular human raised on the North Pole as an elf. After realizing he doesn’t quite fit in, he sets out to find his real family. That brings us to his biological father Walter, played by James Caan. If you really think about it, this version of the trailer could be seen as revolving around Walter’s POV. We all know he wasn’t too thrilled when Buddy haphazardly stumbled into his life.
If you’re looking for a disturbing way to pass the time, check out the above video. Then, why not continue to ruin your childhood by watching the Mrs. Doubtfire trailer edited as a horror film? Happy holidays!
