They Are Making an Emily the Strange Movie, It Has a Screenwriter
i swear by my pretty floral bonnet i will end you
Goth queen fangirls aside, let’s take a step back and see Emily the Strange for what it is: a comic book/graphic novel with a female protagonist. Already, it might have something to offer. Even though she’s known mostly for appearing on the t-shirts of moody teenage girls, but still. This is the planned storyline, her origin story:
The story line is being kept under wraps, although the aim is to tell the origin of the punk and gothic figure and how she comes to gain her abilities that fuse technology and imagination.
And obviously, her four cats. But really, Chloe Moretz has a very decent track record so far with her work in Kick-Ass and Let Me In, the American adaptation of the Swedish child-vampire flick Let the Right One In (Låt den rätte komma in). She’s also playing Carolyn Stoddard in the Dark Shadows movie and appeared on 30 Rock, so her cred is pretty solid.
Emily the Strange will be executive produced by its creator, skateboarder Rob Reger, and Dark Horse’s Keith Goldberg. No director yet, but our attention has been grabbed. We’ll be on the lookout.
