Paramount Announces ‘Evil’ Cancellation With Season 4 Teaser
Paramount+ has become death, destroyer of Evil. The streamer has officially announced that season 4 of the hit horror series will be its last, but we’re getting a new teaser and four “bonus episodes” as a consolation prize.
Paramount released the first teaser for the long-awaited fourth season of Evil, which was delayed last summer during the WGA and SAG strikes.
Despite earning those sweet Super Bowl dollars, the devil on Paramount+’s shoulder has decided to cancel Evil—but the angel on its other shoulder is letting creators Robert and Michelle King wrap up the series with four additional episodes, which will begin filming soon in New York, per THR.
Season 4 is expected to pick up where season 3 left off: After learning that the mysterious RSM fertility clinic lost one of her eggs, Kristen (Katja Herbers) discovers that the devilish Leland (Michael Emerson) has used it to impregnate a surrogate—and Kristen’s mom (Christine Lahti) is in on it. If you haven’t seen Evil, I assure you that this plot, kooky as it sounds, is not only great, but it’s also one of the least bonkers things to happen in the series.
As previewed in the first teaser, the whole cast is back for season 4: Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, Aasif Mandvi, Michael Emerson, Andrea Martin, Kurt Fuller, and Christine Lahti.
Here’s the official synopsis for Evil:
“Skeptical psychologist Kristen Bouchard joins David Acosta, who is training to be a Catholic priest, and a blue collar contractor as they investigate the church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions and other extraordinary occurrences. Their job is to assess if there’s a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work, examining the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion.”
Evil season 4 will premiere sometime in May on Paramount+.
