Falcon and Ant-Man Will “Make Fun Of Each Other” In Civil War

Recommended Videos

Given Ant-Man’s accidental run-in — and subsequent slapsticky fight scene — with the Falcon during Ant-Man, it makes sense that the pair might not be so friendly during the events of Civil War. Anthony Mackie explained to Cinema Blend that the pair’s relationship won’t be acrimonious, exactly, but it’ll involve some friendly ribbing, especially since Mackie has that same sort of relationship with his co-star Paul Rudd:

Yeah, our relationship is… yeah [laughs]. It grows in Civil War. But that’s Paul Rudd, man. Paul Rudd and I just make fun of each other all the time, so it just carries over into the movie. So I respect his [Kansas City] Royals – I’m pulling for his Royals – but we just make fun of each other all the time.

This quote reminded me of what Paul Bettany called the “camaraderie” of the Civil War set; Bettany said that during this film’s shooting, there was a “loose atmosphere” that led to “more improvised jokes.” Sounds like that atmosphere has translated into many of the other actors’ interactions as well. Then again, having a lot of fun on set doesn’t always lead to a fun movie for the audience.

What do you think about the dynamic between Falcon and Ant-Man? Did you like their fight scene in the Ant-Man movie? Would you like to see these two frenemies work it out?
