Fall Out Boy To Release Their Own Flappy Bird Clone, Because That’s the World We Live in Now

Where is your bird tonight?/ I hope he is a gentleman.

Missed out on the Flappy Bird craze? Do you also happen to be a scene kid stuck perpetually in the last decade? What must be your favorite pop punk band, Fall Out Boy, is here to solve all your problems with a soon-to-be-released game for the iOS and Android. Naturally, it’s called Fall Out Bird.

On Monday night, just after game developer Dong Nguyen removed Flappy Bird from app stores on the grounds that he worried people were becoming too addicted (or at least, that’s what he told Forbes in a recent interview), the official Fall Out Boy Twitter announced the arrival of this new game. Currently they’re waiting for it to be approved on the iTunes store and Google Play, but when that happens, you’ll be able to flap away to your hearts content using flying pixelated versions of the bands members’ faces. Or you could just crash them into pipes at your discretion. That could be more fun.

This isn’t the first time the band has ripped off — ahem, lovingly borrowed — a popular game concept to make their own version. In 2009, they also put out their own version of Oregon Trail, aptly titled Fall Out Boy Trail. They took that hiatus they were on not soon after that, so maybe this is a good thing for those of us who are kind of tired of the bands three-paragraph-long-title, can’t-decipher-lyrics-to-save-your-life aesthetic.
