The Mary Sue’s Favorite Comments of the Week: Robot Ultron Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln: Avenger Hunter?
Another week has gone gently into that good night, but you (and your knowledge of America’s Greatest Robot President) helped make it memorable! Ducksauce said on our coverage of Empire’s Avengers covers, “Someone needs to photoshop a top hat on Ultron. He is robot Abraham Lincoln with robot mutton chops.” Ask, and ye shall receive.
We’re certainly stoked about the all-female Ghostbusters casting, but sadly not everyone feels that way. Nerdgirl has the only possible explanation for why some fans think lady-busters will ruin the original film: “They’re just mad because the moment this film opens in theatres the giant vagina in the sky will suck all copies of the original films into the ether to never be viewed again ever for all time, just like it did when Starbuck was given ovaries…”
Speaking of jerks, MarTeaNi has thought of a brilliant use for that squid-like, color-changing synthetic skin science is working on: “I want to make a fancy cocktail dress out of this material so that I can wear it to bars and if a dudebro gets fresh, I can make the dress flash “DOUCHEBAG ALERT!” in bright colors.”
Continuing her impressive run of being the best, this week Emma Watson gave some young girls great advice over Twitter as part of her work for the HeForShe campaign. While it’s tempting to conflate Watson with Hermione, some of you reminded us that Hermione’s advice might be a bit different:
Could drinking soda actually cause some girls to start menstruating earlier? Hard to say, but I do know that Harvey Throneless King Thornto made one of the doofiest puns I’ve seen this week: “Speaking of period pieces, I should get back to the Agent Carter thread…”
Hellcat wrote some seriously extensive and impressive Viola Davis as Nymeria fanfic on last Saturday’s Things We Saw. Seriously, go read it.
…and over on our piece about Leigh Alexander’s recent public speech, a Gamergater got Bon Jovied. *shreds triumphantly* Until next time, friends!
