Bridesmaids Director Paul Feig Is Creating A Female James Bond

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

The good news is, we might see a female James Bond-type character soon. The bad news is, it’s going to be a comedy and probably won’t spawn twenty or so films.

Ok, so a female spy comedy isn’t really bad, and seeing as how it’s being spearheaded by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig, I’m pretty hopeful. It’s just, when I hear “female James Bond” I get to imagining some really kick ass things. Anyway, I still think this is a fun concept.

“With ‘The Heat’ hitting the big screen on June 28, director Paul Feig is ramping up development on a female spy movie titled “Susan Cooper” that he hopes will become a franchise for 20th Century Fox,” says TheWrap. “‘Bridesmaids’ director Feig is currently searching for a leading lady to star in ‘Susan Cooper,’ which will be a realistic comedy about a female James Bond, rather than a parody along the lines of ‘Get Smart or ‘Johnny English.'”

They also describe the film as having two leads, much like The Heat, but doesn’t specify if both will be women. What do you think of this idea?
