During today’s Nintendo Direct, the folks behind Hyrule Warriors Legends revealed that we’re all finally getting a female Link. Named Linkle, she wields crossbows instead of a sword and has a “spinning kick” attack, as a riff of of Link’s traditional spinning blade attack.
Linkle will be coming to Hyrule Warriors Legends, which is the Nintendo/Zelda riff off of Dynasty Warriors–you know, that one game where you’re a general and you beat up a bunch of baddies? Yeah. That.
Link has long been a male hero, one that past game directors have adamantly defended, citing that only male characters are “heir to the prophecy” of Link. But fans will remember that concept art for a female Link have popped up before–specifically in the old Hyrule Warriors guidebook, and the design is still strikingly similar.
This is super exciting for us, and frankly, Linkle looks super awesome. How excited are you folks?!
