Things We Saw Today: Fifty Shades of Bumblebee Is the Trailer Mash-Up of Our Nightmares

We here at TMS love a good mash-up trailer, and the latest from Funny or Die is no exception. Fifty Shades of Bumblebee takes the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy and weaves it together with the trailer for Bumblebee to give us a love story between Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and everyone’s favorite yellow Transformer.

Both Fifty Shades Freed and Bumblebee came out this year (aka the longest year ever), with radically different critical responses. While Bumblebee holds a 93% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Fifty Shades Freed clocks in at a meager 12%. It’s hilarious to watch Johnson’s overly earnest Anastasia act opposite Bumblebee, although truth be told, she has more chemistry with the Transformer than with Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey (a low bar, but still).

I also can’t stop laughing at the idea of Bumblebee as a “promiscuous” billionaire playboy with a dark streak. Besides, if any bot is going to be a brooding bad boy, I think we can all agree it would be Megatron, am I right?
