DC Reveals a First Look at the Cover for Adventures of Supergirl, Supergirl’s New Digital Comic
Once Supergirl began airing on CBS, we knew that it wouldn’t be long before our favorite Kryptonian returned to comics. Adventures of Supergirl, DCs new digital title for Supergirl, is set to launch this month. Today, DC Comics released a first look of the cover for Issue #1, which you can check out below!
This cover was drawn by the super-talented Cat Staggs, who will be the cover artist for the entire 13-part story. Adventures of Supergirl will be released digitally every two weeks, and exist as a companion to the CBS show. It will also be the only Supergirl title at DC at the moment, so it’s only appropriate that they got Sterling Gates, who was responsible for what is widely-considered the best comics run of Supergirl to tell Kara Danvers’ story in comics.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gates talked about how much he loves the new Supergirl show, how excited he is to return to this character, and about the amazing team of artists joining him for the ride:
I am beyond thrilled to be writing Supergirl again. Supergirl is one of my all-time favorite characters — I think she’s one of DC’s best characters, period — and I was extremely honored when DC Comics and the producers of CBS’ hit television show asked me to write Adventures of Supergirl.
Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, and Andrew Kreisberg have created a unique and frankly brilliant take on Kara ‘Supergirl’ Danvers, and our comic will be an extension of their fantastic world. Fans of the show can expect to see all their favorite Supergirl characters play a role in our massively action-packed thirteen-part story exploring the various facets of Supergirl’s life!
My editors have assembled a wildly talented group of artists — including Bengal, Jonboy Meyers, Emanuela Lupacchino, Emma Vieceli, and the brilliant cover artist, Cat Staggs — and our goal is to knock your super-socks off every two weeks across 2016.
While the title is digital-first, there will be a collected print trade released later this year. Adventures of Supergirl takes off on January 25th.
