First Ever Picture of Space Shuttle Docked With International Space Station
The above picture, taken from the Russian Soyuz TMA-20, is the first picture ever taken of the Space Shuttle (in this case, Endeavor) docked with the International Space Station. Odd, when you think about it, that this has never happened before, but hey, the above picture just made space history. From NASA:
Russian cosmonaut Kondratyev, the Soyuz commander, was at the controls of the spacecraft. He backed the Soyuz TMA-20 away from the station and halted it about 600 feet away. From there, Nespoli took still photographs and video of the complex with space shuttle Endeavour attached. The station slowly rotated 130 degrees to provide Nespoli with the best lighting and views during his photo opportunity.
Better pictures and video are supposedly coming soon, and we’ll update when NASA releases them into the wild.
