This week for Follow Friday, we’re going to do a bit of shameless cross-promotional plugging. Our sister site The Jane Dough has undergone a transformation and blossomed into The Maude, a website about women in comedy, and we think you should be following them right now.

Who they are

Originally envisioned as a website for women in business, The Jane Dough has been writing about comedy and feminism for a while now, under the watchful gaze of Colette McIntyre and Kady Ruth. A few months ago they decided that they needed a new website name to better reflect their humorous sensibilities, so who better to name it after than Bea Arthur?

Here’s what their “About Us” section says, for more insight:

The Maude is a curated humor network for/by women. We cover the latest industry news (that involves women), share the best comedy content (that was created by women), and produce our own videos (that, well, you get it). We aim to make the patriarchy laugh its ass off so we can secretly steal the patriarchy’s ass. The Maude wants dat ass.

Why you should follow

Do you like women being funny? Do you enjoy women being funny in Youtube videos, specifically? Do you also frequent such wonderful websites as The Mary Sue, The Toast, and The Frisky? The Maude will be right up your alley. If you ever clicked on The Jane Dough in our daily Geekolinks, you should already be familiar with their style of writing, but if it’s all new to you, then hooray! You’ve found a new site to love.

Great Recent Tweets

As the outlet for a website, the Maude’s Twitter page is gonna be full of links, just like ours is.

Not only a hilarious introduction to the site, but a good litmus test for whether or not you yourself will enjoy it. Don’t find this funny? It’s probably not for you.

We’re super excited to see what amazing heights The Maude can soar to now that they’ve officially launched. Be sure to go and check out the website itself as well as their Twitter!
