#FollowFriday: Wil Wheaton (@wilw)
He's just this guy, you know?
It’s Follow Friday once again, and in honor of tomorrow’s Tabletop festivities, we’re telling you that you should go follow Wil Wheaton. You know, assuming you don’t already.
Who he is
You’ll probably remember Wil Wheaton best as Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Fawkes from Felicia Day’s The Guild, Isaac Parrish from Eureka, or … erm, himself from The Big Bang Theory. He also hosts a show on the Geek and Sundry Youtube channel called Tabletop, and a law of the Internet — “Don’t be a dick about the things you don’t like” — is named after him. And he has an upcoming show on SyFy called The Wil Wheaton Project, a weekly talk show about nerd stuff.
Why you should follow
First of all, he seems like a genuinely nice, decent person who’s trying his best. That goes a long way in Nerd World, sometimes, because people get cynical very quickly and it can be difficult to just lighten up and have some fun.
Secondly, Wheaton is a funny, engaging writer with his finger on the pulse of what’s going on across the Internet. Plus, he’s personal friends with a lot of other people we’ve recommended for #FollowFriday before, such as John Scalzi or Patrick Stewart. If you love seeing people be awesome on your dashboard together, you’ll appreciate the way he and his friends make jokes and engage with each other.
Also? If you’re a big fan of hockey, particularly the L.A. Kings, or making your own beer, then you’re sure to appreciate a lot of Wil’s non-nerd offerings. Seriously, the man love his Kings.

One of the best things about Wheaton is that he’s not afraid to make fun of himself.
So I think we need to make this A Thing. RT @PrettyGeeky: @wilw It’s creepier in packs. pic.twitter.com/opYCUX4WwE

Lousy Smarch weather.

The man knows his Simpsons references, too.
Seriously, though, if all I’m remembered for is telling a little girl that it’s OK to be a nerd, and to be compassionate, I’m ok with that.
