Last night was the early premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Much of Hollywood and the media were present for the event, and right up front: the scuttlebutt says this baby’s really good. We’ve rounded up some of the best (spoiler-free!) reactions to The Force Awakens below.
Do note, however, that just because the parent tweets themselves are spoiler-free, that does not mean the replies to them are. Be very careful when clicking through to each user’s Twitter profile, because some people are total freaking jerks. Or, better yet, why don’t you give this Chrome browser extension a try?
Anyway, consider these tweets and reactions an amuse-bouche before your Star Wars experience begins. Prepare to make the jump to hype-rspace.
Congrats to #JJAbrams and the entire cast and crew on an incredible film. #ForceAwakens made me a giddy 10 year old all over again.

Not going to say much till I see it again but rest assured THE FORCE AWAKENS is the best STAR WARS since 1983…maybe 1980.

Oh, and just in case you’re wondering: yeah, The Force Awakens passes the Bechdel test.
Among its many wonderful qualities, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS passes the Bechdel test.

Men, if you’re mad I tweeted that STAR WARS passes the Bechdel test, I have even worse news for you: you will die alone.

While many of the reviews are glowing, I think it’s important to be a bit… conservative with how we each walk into the theater in the coming days. We all have such high expectations, it’d be a shame to get down on a movie like this simply because each and every one of our expectations weren’t met. Don’t miss the forest for the trees, I guess.
I personally remain cautious with my hopes and expectations with this movie. Don’t get me wrong: I want it to be good, but I know that it’s not going to be a magic bullet that renews my faith in movies once and for all. I’m planning on walking in there looking for a fun time, and if these tweets are any indication, that’s exactly what I’m going to get.
