Star Wars: The Force Awakens Has Already Broken a World Record, Watch out Jurassic World

The Force is awake, and it is HUNGRY.

If the success of the Force Awakens trailer is any indication, there’s a massive asteroid hurtling towards Jurassic World‘s box office record, and it’s got Star Wars etched into its surface. The odds of survival are 3,720 to 1.

According to Guinness World Records, the Star Wars sequel’s trailer (this one, specifically) is now officially certified as the most-viewed movie trailer in 24 hours on YouTube. Ever. When you consider the absolute glut of movie trailers and TV spots on the Internet, besting them all is no small feat.

CBR reports that the final tally for The Force Awakens trailer views after 24 hours was 30.65 million—on the official Star Wars YouTube channel upload alone. It’s not up to 54 million people who cried when Han said, “We’re home,” views, which is either an indicator of a large audience who will turn out to see the film during its opening weekend or just a much smaller number of nerds jabbing the refresh button to watch over and over again. Maybe a bit of both.

Guinness said in a statement, “The release of the clip created unprecedented levels of excitement among Star Wars fans around the world. With the trailer featuring the return of the charismatic [antihero] Han Solo, once again played by Harrison Ford, alongside his furry co-pilot Chewbacca.”

So don’t feel too bad about losing that box office record, Avengers. You were just saving a seat anyway.
