Watch the Star Wars Team Celebrate Force for Change’s 2017 Impact

Recommended Videos

From the very beginning of the franchise, Star Wars has been dedicated to philanthropy with an emphasis on children’s healthcare and education. The spirit of heroism has always been an essential part of Star Wars, and the greatest parts of the fandom have carried out that legacy by doing good for the world whether that’s through in fan organizations like the 501st Legion, donating to Omaze campaigns, or just being courageous and kind in a way that would make our space heroes proud.

Through Force For Change which teams with UNICEF Kid power and Starlight Children’s Foundation, these collective efforts have made an incredible impact. In “Thank You For Being A Force For Change” Kathleen Kennedy, Gareth Edwards, Rian Johnson, J.J. Abrams, and Daisy Ridley talk about what it means to be a Force for Change. For their 40th anniversary fundraising campaign, over 66,435 people from over 160 countries entered for prizes. This raised over $3,400,000 with net proceeds for those foundations. For more details on what those funds will go to, you can head to their website here.

With a franchise as beloved as Star Wars comes a huge platform, and it’s inspiring to see them use it for good.
