Why Yes, Frank Darabont Is Still Pretty Angry Over The Whole Walking Dead Firing Thing
This Makes Sense
The Walking Dead has gone through a few showrunners since Frank Darabont was fired by AMC back in 2011 but it seems time hasn’t healed those particular wounds just yet.
Variety recently interviewed Darabont about his upcoming TNT series Mob City (which stars TWD alumn, Jon Bernthal) but eventually got around to talking about The Walking Dead. They asked if he still tunes into the zombie series?
“Oh god no, why would I,” he told them. “If the woman you loved with all your heart left you for the Pilates instructor and just sent you an invitation to the wedding, would you go?”
As a person who takes my entertainment to heart a lot of the time, I KNOW THAT FEEL, BRO, but I can’t even imagine the extent to which Darabont was hurt by the firing. Here’s a hint…
“There’s a deep commitment and emotional investment that happens when you create something that is very near and dear to you,” he said, “and when that is torn asunder by sociopaths who don’t give a shit about your feelings or the feelings of your cast and crew because they have their own reasons to screw everybody, that doesn’t feel good.”
Here’s hoping he’s seeing a good therapist.
