And so, after a day of tragedy and chaos, we leave you with Fred Rogers, accepting his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 1997 Emmys, and putting things in perspective. Rogers passed away in 2003, leaving behind a legacy of supporting children’s education as well as public broadcasting. In an interview with CNN, he’d said that he went into television because he “hated it”, specifically the way it produced its children’s programming, and then spent his career fixing it. Thanks, Mr. Rogers!
