New Anime Streaming Service From Funimation to Launch in February

Recommended Videos

2016 is going to be a big year for Funimation anime fans! The company has announced at CES this week that they will be launching a new streaming service in February!

FunimationNow, the new ad-free anime streaming service, will give fans access to their huge library, which includes over 400 simulcast and catalogue shows like Dragon Ball Z and Attack on Titan. Even more awesome is that Funimation will be rolling the service out in stages and ensuring that pretty much any platform on which you’d want to watch these shows is covered.

First up, FunimationNow’s new and redesigned apps will be coming out in February first for iOS, Android, and Kindle. Next up, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV. Then, Windows 10 will be releasing its universal app, as well as Airplay and Chromecast features so that you can watch their shows on your TV via your mobile devices. Feburary will also bring the service to the UK. Then in May, FunimationNow comes to gaming consoles (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Roku), and their website becomes more immersive and easier to use on mobile and tablet.

As reported by Nerdist, Funimation Chief Operating Officer Mike DuBoise said:

Our partnership with Sony, the very best in this space, will help power the launch of FunimationNow, our next generation of innovation for anime fans. We’re now uniquely positioned to deliver new and compelling experiences that will be integrated across multiple screens, platforms, and channels, making it easier for fans to discover, share, and experience extraordinary anime.

What also makes it easier? The pricepoint! You can try the service free for 30 Days, and after that you can subscribe at two levels: the “SubPass” allows you access to all English-subtitled anime shows, as well as their subscriber member area for only $4.95 a month (which is cheaper than Crunchyroll!). For three dollars more, you can have the “All Access Pass,” which allows you access to subtitled and dubbed titles, as well as all sorts of other extras.

Well, anime fans? Will you be jumping on the FunimationNow train?
