Game Of Thrones Renewed After One Episode
and let it be known
Some good news for everyone who enjoyed Sunday night’s premiere of Game of Thrones. HBO has already optioned the series for another season.
Apparently a viewing audience of 4.2 million people over the three airings of the show’s first episode was enough for HBO to throw their weight behind another set of episodes.
Says HBO’s president Michael Lombardo:
We are delighted by the way [writers] David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have brought George R.R. Martin‘s amazing book series to the screen, and thrilled by the support of the media and our viewers. This is the continuation of an exciting creative partnership.
The current season is ten episodes long, and it can probably be assumed that a second would be of the same length. Having never read the books, we couldn’t tell you how far this means the show will get into the plots of George R. R. Martin. But now we’re really, really, going to have to figure out how to watch it.
