Game of Thrones Casts Another Distinguished British Actor, Icelandic Indie Band Sigur Rós

One of these things is not like the other…
OK, so let’s get the boring casting bit out of the way first: Rupert Vansittart (Braveheart, Four Weddings and a Funeral, the Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice), has been cast to play Lord Yohn Royce, a loyal bannerman of Lysa Arryn and the father of poor Waymar Royce, the Night’s Watchman killed by the White Walkers all the way back in the first first episode, before non-book readers had experienced the pain of Ned Stark’s death and the glory of Tyrion slapping Joffrey. Better known as Bronze Yohn, Royce doesn’t show up until after something fairly major goes down in book four (A Feast For Crows spoiler: Petyr killing Lysa), so I’m guessing we’ll see that soon.
And now for the more interesting news: Entertainment Weekly reports that Jón Þór “Jónsi” Birgisson, Georg Hólm, and Orri Páll Dýrason of indie band Sigur Rós are filming a cameo on the show’s Croatia set. Geekosystem speculates that they’ll put in an appearance at [season four spoilers] Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell’s wedding, which seems about right to me. Previous musical cameos have been made by Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol and Coldplay drummer Will Champion, while indie bands The National and The Hold Steady have recorded songs for the show’s end credits.
Now my mind is filled with other potential musical cameos for Game of Thrones. David Bowie as a Maester of the Citadel. Miley Cyrus twerking off in the distance during a random battle scene. Hologram Tupac as one of the Night’s Watch. The possibilities are endless.
