Check Out the New Geekosystem Podcast Episode “Diani Meets the Podcast” With Guest Gabriel Diani!
We will all go together when we go.
We’re a day late this week because of reasons, but we think it’s worth it to bring you our first guest! Comedian, filmmaker, and Mark Twain enthusiast Gabriel Diani is here to talk about the Kickstarter campaign for Diani & Devine Meet the Apocalypse!
Check out the episode right here! (iTunes should be happening soon. We’ve had some RSS issues.)
We’re in the middle of the FIDE World Chess Championship, so Glen is super tired from waking up at 4:00AM to cover the games. That didn’t stop him from getting excited to talk to Diani about Diani & Devine Meet the Apocalypse, or getting arguably too excited about Huckleberry Finn: Robotic Edition which Diani & Devine created using Kickstarter a few years back. (Seriously. Glen loves this book.)
There’s still time to back Diani & Devine Meet the Apocalypse on Kickstarter, and if you need convincing check out the Janet Varney video we discuss in the episode:
Speaking of getting excited about things, Diani seemed really pumped about this Saturday Night Live sketch about chess coach Jim Belushi:
We could only find this very short clip of the sketch, but it appears in Season 10, Episode 5. If you have a Netflix or Hulu account you should be able to find it.
If you still have a Netflix DVD account you can even see the movie Glen and Dan made for $1,000, Several Ways to Die Trying.
Find out exactly what it’s like to be in the middle of a very ambitious Kickstarter campaign directly from a guy who is currently in the middle of a very ambitious Kickstarter campaign! We only had the Gabe half of the Diani & Devine, but we mentioned this great article by Etta Devine about crowdfunding over on MsInTheBiz.com.
At one point the Geeko team goes off on a pretty weird rant about Duck Tales, and how it may have inspired Inception (but probably didn’t). You can read more about the comic in question over on CinemaBlend.com
For your Editors’ Picks this week, Dan thinks you should all be playing Papa Sangre II, a scary mobile game you play using only your sense of hearing.
Victoria recommends Sex Criminals, a comic by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky about people who stop time when they orgasm.
And Glen thinks the documentary about Krypton on the Man of Steel Blu-ray is worth your time, regardless of how you feel about Man of Steel.
With the PlayStation 4 releasing this week, Dan wonders if there’s room in his life or budget for a new console, and Glen lays out a challenge to all comers that he can best them in Dr. Mario.

- We also mentioned Glen’s interview with Kevin Smith a few times
- Catch up with last week’s episode “Planet Krypton”
