George Takei’s TED Talk on American Democracy

This is important.

Recommended Videos

George Takei’s TED Talk at TEDxTokyo is all about his struggle to reconcile his experience of being raised in an American internment camp for citizens of Japanese descent, with what he was later taught about the ideals of American democracy. It’s a perfect video about the fallibilities of democracy, and the ultimately human solutions to those fallibilities.

If you’re looking for something less heavy, but no less heartwarming, you might want to check out the trailer below, for the actor’s biographical documentary To Be Takei.

Susana Polo thought she'd get her Creative Writing degree from Oberlin, work a crap job, and fake it until she made it into comics. Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
