Longest Saturday Morning Cartoon Ever: Animated Ghostbusters Film In the Works
According to The Tracking Board, Sony is currently developing an animated film based on Ghostbusters. Ivan Reitman, director of the original film, is producing the project, which is still seeking out a writer.
There are no details yet about plot or characters, but it’s been said that the premise should be the same as the 1984 flick: scientists use wacky gadgets to catch ghosts in New York. Easy enough, right?
The thing about this project is that it’s going to be an interesting fit in the growing Ghostbusters universe of films coming out soon. After Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters hits screens, there’s an all-male “counterpart” version coming out, and most likely soon after that, this animated feature will hit the streets. It’s possible they’re covering their audience bases with these three movies, with this one aimed towards capturing the attention of children.
And because we can’t write a single thing without someone saying it: we get it already, Feig’s Ghostbusters is ruining your childhood, wah. Okay. Knock it off.
