Actually, There Is Going to Be a Gilmore Girls Revival! Thank You, Netflix!
It looks like Lauren Graham may be spending some quality time with the “right” TV daughter after all!
TVLine reports that several of the original Gilmore Girls cast members – Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop and Scott Patterson – are currently in negotiations with Netflix to do a Gilmore Girls revival! That’s right – Netflix and Warner Bros. have struck up a deal to bring back one of our favorite shows. This revival, which will consist of four 90-minute episodes, will allow creator Amy Sherman-Palladino to complete Gilmore Girls the way she intended. That means including those “final four words” that she’s talked about.
Will you marry me?
Don’t be an idiot?
I really love coffee?
WHAT ARE THE FINAL FOUR WORDS?
No matter what they are, I’m thrilled that Sherman-Palladino will finally be able to finish out her story her way, albeit sadly without the Gilmore patriarch. And there’s no word on whether Melissa McCarthy or any of the other supporting players will make appearances. Still, hopefully this limited series approach can be a recurring thing. After all, as Sherman-Palladino herself said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in 2009:
The beauty of Gilmore, and the beauty of family-relationship shows, is you never really run out of story. You’re going to battle your family until you’re all in the ground. Those things never resolve, doesn’t matter how much therapy you get. Ten years later, there’s still going to be [material] there to mine and to delve into.
CAN’T WAIT. Will you be watching? And what do you predict the final four words of this limited series will be?
