Girl Scout Cookie App Will Hook You Up With All The Cookies You Need This Season

Girl Scout cookie season will be upon the East Coast in 4 days, and if you love sweet sweet Girl Scout cookies but don’t know any actual Scouts, never fear. We’ve got the down low on all the technology you need to get your grubby paws on an endless supply of Thin Mints and Samoas in the least awkward/most legal way possible.
Cookie peddling season may fall at a different time of the year based on your region, but it’s always good to be prepared for the annual celebration of women and sweet teeth.
Kellogg’s — the same people who brought the world The Fiber tracker app — are branching out into less healthy waters, with an app designed to help you get your cookie fix. The Girl Scout Cookie Locator will help you find your boxed goodies without casing super markets/staring out your window waiting for kids to come down the street. Here’s the app’s description on iTunes:
The free Cookie Locator lets you find cookies on sale close to you. Use your phone’s GPS location to find cookies nearby, or find cookies by ZIP code, city, or state. You can map your way to a cookie booth or share results with friends. Add the sale details automatically to your calendar so you remember to stop by and stock up on your favorites. Girl Scout Cookie® Sales happen in the fall and in the spring, depending on your area. A fun countdown clock tells you when the sales start for you.
Unfortunately, the app may not be the all-access pass true cookie monsters are looking for. It’s only available on iTunes, and as one reviewer notes, it just provides access to treats baked by one of the two companies that make the cookies–the Cookie Locator will hook you up with sweets from Little Brownie Bakers, but not their counterpart ABC. You might find Samoas aplenty, but good luck getting your Caramel DeLites fix or locating the new gluten free option — those are made by ABC only.
Your chances of being successfully connected to a troop using the app are better in major cities too, so that’s just the way the cookie crumbles, country cookie cravers.
Little Brownie Bakers also has its own website to connect consumers to a sale, and that seems like it would work just as well as Kellogg’s app.
So yes, times are still a little tough for those of us looking to fill our cookie hole. I’d suggest utilizing these online tools, but why can’t we just skip the middleman middlegirl already?
An enterprising grown up should buy boxes in bulk and then sell them at a marked up price at bars and offices and similar adult places. That way we would be spared staring at the cherubic, hopeful faces of Cookie Professionals. Nothing crushes a cookie craving like a reminder of our lost innocence.
