Google Glass Puts Kibosh on Porn Apps, Disappoints Perverts Worldwide

The Internet may be for porn, but Google Glass is only being developed for good, wholesome web-surfing, according to a policy update from Google.

In news that will no doubt come as a blow to many of the Internet’s more sex-crazed denizens, developers for Google have 86ed pornographic apps for Google Glass in an update of its policies earlier this week. We can all sleep easier knowing that the guy on the bus is not looking at people’s naughty bits, but narcissistically checking his Facebook feed, which is more noble and dignified than watching a skin flick…for reasons that I’m sure I will think of eventually.

According to the newly updated policy, Google’s policy on accepting apps for Glass is pretty simple:

We don’t allow Glassware content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material.

They also take the chance to reiterate their strong opposition to child pornography, because there’s never a bad time to reiterate one’s strong opposition to child pornography.

The policy change may be a reaction to firm MiKandi and their recent work on the Glass porn app “Tits and Glass” — which we covered here — but if it is, the timing is a little strange and, frankly, less than sporting. After all, if you’re going to have an anti-porn policy, why not just put it in from beginning? Why wait until porn app developers have put in hours of hard work crafting a piece of software that will put boobs in front of a viewer’s face at any time before you tell them “Nope”? Did you really think people were going to not develop porn apps for your wearable face camera? You’ve been on the Internet before, right?

While it’s natural to have some privacy concerns over a potentially game-changing piece of new technology, it’s also a little bit dismaying that people seem more interested in shackling the technology — restricting apps and hobbling the device’s face recognition capabilities, a move that came just days ago — rather than seeing what it can do.

That said, I’m also not shedding any tears over the loss of the ability to watch porn on a screen that lives in front of my eye. There are things worth losing sleep over, and this is not among them.
