Thanks to Google, the Internet’s Suddenly Not Quite as Much About Porn
We’re kidding. Everyone knows looking for porn in Google images is a bush league move, but Google isn’t removing any adult content, just making it a bit more of a chore to get to. Google explains it like this: “If you’re looking for adult content, you can find it without having to change the default setting — you just may need to be more explicit in your query if your search terms are potentially ambiguous.”
The porn is still there. You just have to try a little harder to get it. Google wants to make you work for it.
This will actually just make it a lot easier to find real images of things that could be considered a double entendre, especially at work. It will be nice to be able to look for pictures of jugs and actually find pictures of jugs for a change. Maybe I’ll go give that a shot… nope. Looks like Google hasn’t quite mastered this filtering business just yet. Probably best not to search for the word “jugs” at work just yet.
