GOP Strategist Calls Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a “Little Girl” and The Internet Was Not Having It
New Year's Resolution: Stop tolerating misogyny.
Here’s a great mandate for 2019: zero f*cking tolerance for misogyny in all its forms. Ever since Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won the NY-14 representative seat, the GOP and its angry white male army have lost their damn minds. They have attacked AOC for a variety of reasons, including dancing while happy, wearing a jacket, and living paycheck to paycheck. How dare she!
Now, GOP strategist/Old Man Yelling at Cloud Ed Rollins has referred to AOC as “the little girl” with the “mouth” in an appearance on the Fox Business show Lou Dobbs Tonight. Sidebar: what is Fox Business’s business? Is it racism and misogyny from ancient white guys? If so, business must be booming.
AOC was quick to clap back in her signature thoughtful and funny style, tweeting:
GOP loves to insult my intelligence, yet offers *this* as their best + most seasoned opposition to my policy proposals.
If anything, this dude is a walking argument to tax misogyny at 100% 😉
Republicans rob everyone the opportunity of real policy debate by resorting to this. https://t.co/Yk3BTHbtxv

Let’s just be clear: by referring to AOC as a “little girl”, Rollins is clearly trying to demean and discredit the youngest woman ever elected to congress. Twitter was not having it and quickly came for the GOP strategist:
Sooooo—all you news orgs who might think about booking Ed Rollins, please note he just referred to a grown woman—and a United States Congressperson as a little girl. That should be enough to keep him off your air as a talking head. https://t.co/vnKTMTB8Bu

GOP Strategist Ed Rollins Calls Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez 'The Little Girl.' Lol, she doesn’t skip a beat and explains he’s a "walking argument" for a 100 percent tax on misogyny. The GOP has no idea what to do with women who don’t care what men think. https://t.co/95H66B31VT

Like most, I’d never heard of @AOC.
Then, she beat Crowley & Right Wing obsessed over her. They picked on her clothes, teeth, humble origins and college dancing. She rose. They pounced on any small mis-step & called her “little girl”. She rose.
Today, @AOC reached 2M followers.— Ana Navarro (@ananavarro) January 6, 2019

It’s amazing how these Repub men resort to depersonalization and belittling of strong women who make them feel scared- i.e. this guy calling @AOC “little girl” & John Kelly calling Rep. Wilson “an empty barrel”. Too bad, guys! Strong women of EVERY COLOR are here to stay!

Republicans are clearly terrified by a self-possessed, confident woman of color. The GOP obsession with AOC only shows how sad and out of date the party is. Their fixation on Ocasio-Cortez can be perfectly summed up in the following exchange:
