Chris Hadfield As David Bowie Is Out-Of-This-World Awesome
Ground control to Commander Hadfield: You are way too cool for this planet.
If you thought Commander Chris Hadfield couldn’t get any more awesome – first, don’t ever underestimate Hadfield, come on. Second, you have to check out the cover of Canadian magazine Maclean’s, because they’ve got Hadfield on their cover done up like David Bowie, and it is utter perfection.
After recording a cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” on the International Space Station, Hadfield — already an international sensation because of his awesome in-space YouTube videos — became an official astronaut rock star. Photographer Christopher Wahl took a few regular portraits of Hadfield first, before painting the retired astronaut up and lighting him to exactly match Bowie’s “Aladdin Sane” album cover. The results are, obviously, epic. Check out a behind-the-scenes from the Maclean’s shoot here:
We love you, Commander Hadfield. Never change.
