Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy Teased Fans About Which Batman Storylines They’d Like to Voice Next

As long as they're better than The Killing Joke ...

The Killing Joke movie adaptation was, by all accounts, not very good. Those who would’ve liked to see Batgirl treated better got a botched attempt that really ran the opposite direction, and those who would’ve wanted a simple, 100% faithful recreation didn’t get what they wanted, either. That’s not the fault of Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy, though, and there’s still plenty of fan desire for them to reprise their roles in future projects.

On a panel at Fan Expo Canada over the weekend, the iconic Batman voice actors made their personal picks for possible next projects in response to a closing question (about 44:45 above) about whether or not they were done with the parts. First, Conroy replied with an emphatic, “No,” and then Hamill launched into an story about a past failed attempt to say goodbye to the Joker. However, he got interrupted in short order by Conroy asking him, “What would you think about doing ‘Hush’?”

Hamill responded simply, “What would you think about doing ‘A Death in the Family’?” The crowd reacted strongly to both Batman story arc suggestions, but it’s going to take more than that to get another adaptation off the ground, sadly. The enthusiasm from the fans and actors is great to see, though, as Batman: The Animated Series comes up on its 25th anniversary this time next year. Maybe we’ve still got some better Batman adaptations to look forward to in the future.
