According to Variety, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is in talks to play “Jack,” “a lamplighter resembling the original Mary Poppins character Bert,” in Disney’s upcoming Mary Poppins sequel. Miranda will also reportedly be helping develop new songs for the film.

Variety has new details on the plot of the Emily Blunt-starring movie, reporting that “the new film will take place in Depression-era London (when the books were originally written and 20 years after the first film was set) and will take story lines from P.L. Travers’ books focusing on Poppins’ continued adventures with the Banks family.”

I’m glad Disney recognizes what a goddamn gift Miranda is–in addition to this Mary Poppins news, he’s also composing the music for Disney’s Moana, and even worked with the studio on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens soundtrack.

What do you think of this casting, gang? Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?
