‘Harley Quinn: The Animated Series’ Drops Trailer and Release Date!
UPDATE! HBO Max Just dropped the first FULL trailer for Harley Quinn, which gives us a look at Harvey Guillén’s self-serious Nightwing, and Poison Ivy’s grand plan to terraform Gotham. And as always, Harley is there to scrap it up, defend her girl, and follow her ever-spinning moral compass.
The latest series summary reads “Wrapping up their ‘Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour,’ Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) return to Gotham as the new power couple of DC villainy. Along with their ragtag crew—King Shark (Ron Funches), Clayface (Alan Tudyk), Frank the Plant (JB Smoove)—’Harlivy’ strives to become the best version of themselves while also working towards Ivy’s long desired plan of transforming Gotham into an Eden paradise.”
The adult animated series returns July 28, and by the looks of things, Harlivy is going strong! For their two-week anniversary, Harley kidnaps Amanda Waller for Ivy, and that’s just one part of the Eat Bang Kill! tour that the duo embark on. The Joker is running for mayor, old foes return, and James Gunn makes a cameo appearance as himself.
After the whirlwind events at the end of season two and the subsequent GLAAD-nominated miniseries The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour by Tee Franklin (Bingo Love), there is so much excitement and buzz around season three of HBO Max’s Harley Quinn: The Animated Series. Outside of the story, we’ve also learned that in the upcoming season, James Gunn will play himself and Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) will voice Nightwing!
With season one releasing in 2019 and season two releasing in 2020, this is the longest break we’ve had from the show. It will soon be two whole years. Kaley Cuoco (who voices Harleen Quinzel) told TV Line “[Harley and Ivy’s] relationship is the main focal point of this season, and it’s hilarious and actually really, really sweet.”
Season Three
Originally slated for a late-2021 release, the October reel at DC Fandom revealed that animation delays pushed the project back. The last update was from the executive producer (also for Abbott Elementary) and showrunner Patrick Schumacker, who hinted that the next season was coming this summer. July 28th, 2022 to be specific. The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour hardback comes out on August 30 also pre-order that!
