The Director Of Your Favorite Harry Potter Film Is Being Considered For Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Rumory
Oh, did I say your favorite? I meant my favorite and what I consider to be the best out of the eight Harry Potter book adaptations – Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Yes, word is Alfonso Cuarón may be visiting the Wizarding World once again.
Sadly, this news is of the rumory kind. All we have to go on right now is a tweet from Deadline’s Nikke Finke which read:
I hear Alfonso Cuaron ('Gravity', 'HP/Azkaban') deep in talks to direct JK Rowling's Harry Potter spinoff 'Fantastic Beasts'. Perfect pick.

And to that I say, “Please, please, please! With sugar quills and fizzing whizzbees on top!!”
We previously learned Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them would be getting a release date of November 18, 2016. At least for the first installment. Warner Bros. C.E.O. Kevin Tsujihara has told the New York Times three “megamovies” are planned featuring Newt Scamander, the “author” of the fictional textbook. We also know it won’t be a prequel or sequel to the Harry Potter films but an extension of the universe.
Your mileage may vary, but Cuarón’s Azkaban really captured the feel of J.K. Rowling’s novels for me and I was incredibly disappointed when I found out he wouldn’t direct the follow-up, so I really do hope this hiring comes to pass.
